Paramount Pictures has a long and proud tradition of giving back. Our corporate social responsibility program is focused on four key initiatives: education, environment, HIV/AIDS and volunteerism. By offering employee engagement opportunities, coupled with financial and in-kind contributions, Paramount supports numerous local, national, and global non-profit organizations.
Kindergarten to Cap & Gown
In support of Viacom’s Get Schooled initiative, Paramount has established Kindergarten To Cap & Gown. We have a total of 100 employee mentors in six neighborhood public schools making a lasting impact in the lives of students through mentoring. Employees in Los Angeles and the United Kingdom provide partners in reading and career exploration, sharing what we do best in film and entertainment: sparking imagination, creativity and exploration through storytelling.
The Green Team
The Green Team is a 22 member coalition, representing every major division within the company, working towards a three pronged strategy:
- Educate employees to live the most sustainable lives possible
- Ensuring the lot operates in an environmentally sustainable way
- Ecologically responsible content and production
Through their meetings and workshops, the Green Team seeks to inspire changes in behavior from all Paramount employees - turning off lights in their own offices or conference rooms, or printing double-sided – the Green Team is raising awareness and also raising expectations at Paramount.
Paramount Fights HIV/AIDS
Paramount Pictures has served as a Grand Sponsor of AIDS Walk Los Angeles since its inception in 1985, providing in-kind support and logistical expertise in support of the fight against HIV and AIDS. During this time, hundreds of employees have joined Team Paramount to raise tens of thousands of dollars for AIDS Project Los Angeles, the main beneficiary organization. Paramount also hosts a series of lot-wide awareness events throughout the year to continue education, increase awareness and foster compassion in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Paramount Volunteer Crew
The Paramount Volunteer Crew offers employees the opportunity to give back in the communities where they live and work. We have a dedicated group of more than 500 employees who meet monthly and help plan service projects that range from community park clean-ups to cheering on athletes at the Special Olympics. In the spring, more than 1,400 Paramount employees in 19 countries participate in Viacommunity Day, a Viacom-wide effort that deploys thousands of volunteers each year to serve in communities where Viacom has operations.
